WNHS staff - complete the Staff Registration form once only unless your work or personal address details change.

Use the Request Articles form only when registered.

• The Library is open Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm (excluding public holidays).

• WNHS staff and students employed by KEMH need to complete the Staff Registration form on the left under Library Services.
• Students undertaking a KEMH course who are not employed by KEMH please contact us on 6458 1499.
• University students on placement at KEMH need to complete the Student Library Registration form on the left under Library Services.

• You have 'walk-in' access which means that you can access KEMH Library's resources, including online resources, in the Library.
• If you belong to another WA Health library you can also borrow the books, DVDs & print journals from KEMH LIbrary in person.
• You may also place a request at your home library for an interlibrary loan from KEMH Library, but will not be able to borrow any high demand items (short term loans) this way.

• After hours access is available for KEMH staff only. If you are already registered with the Library fill-in this online form: After-Hours Access.
• If you have not joined the Library you need to do this first by completing the Staff Registration form on the left under Library Services.

• Yes - but first you need to join the Medical Library by completing the Staff Registration form on the left under Library Services.

• WNHS staff with KEMH on-site computer log-in can access the Library's online resources off-site using the same log-in.
• If your log-in is not working off-site please contact HIN.
• WNHS staff located at another site & staff from other WA Health sites temporarily working or studying at KEMH will need to apply for EzProxy access - please see our Off-Site Access information on the right.

• Yes, the Library does have an UpToDate subscription. WNHS staff can click here for access.

• If you are a university student you can only access the Library's online resources in the Library.
• If you are a student completing a KEMH course you have full access rights & can access online resources off-site. If you are also a KEMH staff member log-in using your HE number and password. If not, please contact the Library:mailto: KEMH.Library@health.wa.gov.au

• All of the Library's online resources can be accessed via the internet on mobile devices by KEMH staff. But you get better functionality by using Mobile Apps. To download specific Mobile Apps see our mobile guide: Mobile Resources

There are several browser extensions that can be used to access the full text of articles available through the WNHS Medical Library

• LibKey Nomad - the recommended full text access extension and permitted at WA Health for used on work computers

• You can borrow a maximum of 10 items (books, DVDs and journals) at a time. The standard loan period is 4 weeks. The short loan period for high demand items is 7 days.

• You can find out when your items are due & renew them online by going to the Library catalogue
• Click on My account (under 'My Library' on the right).
• You then need to enter your name and barcode (located on your Library card) and submit.
• A list of your borrowed items will appear with the due dates. Click the Renew All button or tick the items you wish to renew and click Renew Selected.

• EndNote is a bibliographic software program that allows you to store references & PDFs on your computer so you can easily generate bibliographies in specific styles.
• The WA Health Libraries Network (WAHLiN) has purchased a WA Health-wide EndNote licence giving staff & students access to EndNote.

• The HSS Software Management Unit (SAMU) coordinates WA Health licence purchases for SPSS and SAS software.
• Information about the cost of licences and how to access through WA Health is available on the SAMU FAQs.
• There are also email distribution lists in the Global address book that show who is currently using the software - see HSS, SPSS Application User Group, and Infohealth, SAS User Group.

• Go to eBooks & Journal Title Search and click on the Journal Title Search tab.
• Type the title of the journal in the search box. Click Go.
• Click the find it @WNHS icon next to the relevant journal to see if the Library has access to the required year & issue either online or in print. If not, click 'We'll get it for you via Document Delivery' and complete the online form.
• If the title doesn't appear you need to place a request via the Request Articles form found here on the left or under the Home & Services tabs.

• Go to the Library catalogue.
• Type in keywords or select title from the drop-down menu and type the exact title in the search box. Click Submit.
• Look under Status to see if the book is available, on loan or not for loan.
• To limit the search to DVDs click the Advanced Keyword link (under Advanced Search on the right) & choose 'Videos, films' under Material Type, then type your title in the search box & click submit.

• All WNHS staff can request books and articles from other libraries via the Request Articles link on the left under Library Services.

• You need to make your request for a book or journal article from your home library. If you spend an equal amount of time at each location you need to register at both / all libraries.
• To register with the KEMH Medical Library complete the Request Articles form on the left under Library Services.

• KEMH staff can request a literature search by a librarian for clinical or research purposes. Simply complete the Request a Literature Search online form on the left under Library Services.

• Yes! Complete the Suggest a Book for the Library form on the left under Library Services.

• If you are ordering this item for your department simply indicate on the order form that you would like the Library to purchase a copy as well!

• You will need the cost centre number & authorisation for the purchase. Then fill-in the Order a Book for your Department form on the left under Library Services.

• The Library allows staff and students to use its photocopier, printer, scanner and fax machines free of charge!

• Of course! To book a session on EndNote (individual or group, in the Library or your department) complete the Request Training form on the left under Library Services.
• To solve a specific problem(s) come to the Library with your EndNote library on a USB. Or phone us on 6458 1499.

• Yes! Just complete the Request Training form on the left under Library Services.
• The Library provides training on all our resources. We offer one-on-one training as well as group training. For more details see our Library training page.

• EndNote X9.3.1 is not backwards compatible. So if you create or open a library in X9.3.1 and then try to open it again in a previous version it won't work. You will need to upgrade to EndNote X9.3.1 on all the computers you use. Go to the EndNote Guide for further information

• To use the Library's eResources a login is required to ensure only WNHS employees can get access. This is a legal requirement of our resource licences. If you are a WNHS employee and having problems logging in, it could be due to one of the following reasons.
  1. Are you trying to use your WA Health email address as your username? This is incorrect, use your network identifier instead - he##
  2. Your network password may have expired. Contact HSS 13 44 77 to get your password reset. If you have registered for self-service password you can reset your password online through the staff portal - see Self Service Password Reset
  3. Your IT account may not be set up with the appropriate application to allow access to library resources (EzProxy). Please contact the Library to ask about setting this up (only for WNHS employees)

• The Library website and other external websites require up to date web browsers to display content properly. Most WNHS computers now have Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge (Chromium) Edge Chromium icon as the default browser. This should ensure webpages load properly.
• If you have any problems with webpages not loading properly, try clearing the cache (see next query below). If working from home, check to see if your browser needs to be updated. If you continue to have problems, please contact the library for assistance.
