WNHS Staff Library: About | FAQs

• The Library is open Monday - Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm (excluding public holidays).

• WNHS staff located at other sites, and any other WA Health staff are welcome to use the staff library during opening hours, as the library is swipe access only. Other requests will be considered on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of librarians.

• If you belong to another WA Health library you can borrow print resources from the Staff Library in person. Interlibrary loans can also be requested for items across WA Health Libraries. Contact your home library to facilitate this.
• Limited in-person access to electronic resources is available to WA Health staff. Please ask librarians for details.

• CAHS staff working onsite at KEMH can use the WNHS Staff Library. See our Library FAQs for Neonatal Staff for more information

• After hours access is available for KEMH staff only. If you are already registered with the Library fill-in this online form: After-Hours Access.
• If you have not joined the Library you need to do this first by completing the Staff Registration form on the left under Library Services.

• Yes - but first you need to complete the Staff Registration form

• All WNHS staff can access library eResources offsite. When prompted, login with the User Name and Password used to login to your computer at work.

• Limited in-person access to electronic resources is available to University students at WNHS. Please ask librarians for details.

• All of the Library's online resources can be accessed on mobile devices by KEMH staff. For more information see our Mobile Resources page.

There are several browser extensions that can be used to access the full text of articles available through the Staff Library. Click here to find out more here.

• WNHS staff need complete the Staff Registration form
• University students on placement at KEMH need to complete the Student Library Registration form

• How many library items can I borrow and what is the loan period?
• A maximum of 10 items can be borrowed at a time. Most items can be borrowed for 4 weeks with a possible 2 renewals.

• Library items can be renewed by calling the library during opening hours on 6458 1499 or emailing us KEMH.Library@health.wa.gov.au. You can also reply to the reminder email you will receive 3 days before the due date.

• Yes - please contact us providing us with the details of the item you wish to request

• Yes, the Library does have an UpToDate subscription. WNHS staff can click here for access.

• Endnote is a software program that makes referencing easier. Endnote is available on all WA Health computers, but can also be downloaded for use at home. See our Endnote Guide here.

• Contact the Library to find out how to do this.

• Search for the title in the Library catalogue.
• Check the status of the item to see if it is available, on loan or not for loan.
• If the title is unavailable, contact us contact us for more options.

• Use the library at your primary work location. If you are unsure, contact us contact us

• HSS coordinates a whole of Health licence purchase for SPSS. Individual access will be charged to your department. You will need to fill in a HFN-070 form, providing HSS with cost centre approval.

• All staff and students can use our printing, scanning and copying facilities free of charge. Binding and laminating services are available for staff at the Consumer Library.

• All WNHS staff can request books and articles from other libraries via the Request Articles form here.
• We suggest checking Google Scholar or the Library catalogue. to see if the library already has access before submitting a request

• The library offers a literature search service for all WNHS staff. Searches are undertaken by experienced librarians. Complete the literature request form here.

• A cost centre number and authorisation is required for the purchase of department items. Please click here for our department purchase form.form.

• Yes definitely! Training sessions on Endnote are available for an individuals or small groups, either in the Staff Library or in your department. To book, click here. Alternatively check out our Endnote guide here.
• We can also help with specific Endnote problems such as corrupted files or syncing issues. Contact us via phone or email or visit us during opening hours.

• The Library provides training on all our resources. We offer one-on-one training as well as group training. For more information and to book a session, complete our training request form.

• EndNote X9.3.1 is not backwards compatible. So if you create or open a library in X9.3.1 and then try to open it again in a previous version it won't work. You will need to upgrade to EndNote X9.3.1 on all the computers you use. Go to the EndNote Guide for further information

• To use the Library's eResources a login is required to ensure only WNHS employees can get access. This is a legal requirement of our resource licences. If you are a WNHS employee and having problems logging in, it could be due to one of the following reasons.
  1. Are you trying to use your WA Health email address as your username? This is incorrect, use your network identifier instead - he##
  2. Your network password may have expired. Contact HSS 13 44 77 to get your password reset. If you have registered for self-service password you can reset your password online through the staff portal - see Self Service Password Reset
  3. Your IT account may not be set up with the appropriate application to allow access to library resources (EzProxy). Please contact the Library to ask about setting this up (only for WNHS employees)

• The Library website and other external websites require up to date web browsers to display content properly. Most WNHS computers now have Windows 10 and Microsoft Edge (Chromium) Edge Chromium icon as the default browser. This should ensure webpages load properly.
• If you have any problems with webpages not loading properly, try clearing the cache (see next query below). If working from home, check to see if your browser needs to be updated. If you continue to have problems, please contact the library for assistance.
